Dirty Dancing Hen Party FAQs

Can we really learn the lift safely?

Yes! Our York instructors are experts at teaching the iconic lift safely. We start with trust exercises and modified versions - think assisted lifts and "airplane" poses before attempting anything aerial. Whether you're a Yorkshire local or visiting for the hen weekend, we ensure everyone feels like Baby, not just watching from the corner. We offer ground-based alternatives that capture the romance without the risk. Remember, it's about the feeling, not the height!

What Dirty Dancing songs will we dance to?

Experience the complete Kellerman's soundtrack! We feature "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," "Hungry Eyes," "She's Like the Wind," and "Love Is Strange." Our York studios pulse with the Latin rhythms of "De Todo Un Poco" and the romance of "Cry to Me." We blend the film's 60s classics with its unforgettable 80s power ballads. Special request for your favorite scene's music? Let us know! Our sound system will transport you straight to the Catskills!

Should we dress in 60s resort wear or dance outfits?

Absolutely! Channel Baby's transformation from sweet summer dresses to that iconic final performance outfit! Past York hen parties have rocked everything from 60s resort wear (think pedal pushers and tied shirts) to full "Time of My Life" black dress glamour. For the brave - Johnny's black tank and tight trousers! The vintage shops on Fossgate have perfect 60s pieces. Pro tip: Bring a change from day to evening wear, just like Baby's journey from innocent to confident!

Do we need dance partners like in the movie?

Not at all! While Dirty Dancing is about partnership, our York class adapts beautifully for hen groups. We rotate partners, use our professional instructors for demos, and many moves work solo or in groups. Think of it as the staff party scenes where everyone dances together! Our Yorkshire instructors ensure nobody feels left in the corner - we've had groups of 30 all feeling like they've found their Johnny. The magic is in the music and movement, not just the partnership!
